It’s too cold to run outside today. Better take the day off.
I used to have those thoughts ingrained in my mind. Or if I saw other people out running I would think they were nuts. This year, I learned how to conquer the cold. It sounds simple, but all I had to do was dress for success. Heavy sweatshirts and sweatpants are not the answer for me. I get sweaty, then the cold air makes that moisture uncomfortably cold. Since July 2011, my running has taken me over 1000 miles.
I have lost at least 40 pounds.
I have gained a lot of perspective.

RACE RECAP:
The Shenandoah Valley Runners Club held the Run for a Rose 5K at Sherando High School in Stephens City. The weather was cold and windy in the low 30’s at race start time. (more…)
Brutal week. Speed work on Tuesday that had me going fast (7:30 mile pace) for .62 miles followed by 30 seconds of slow. This repeated 10 times with 2 miles slow to warm up and a mile slow at the end to cool down. 9.75 rough miles. (more…)
