RACE RECAP:

The Shenandoah Valley Runners Club held the Run for a Rose 5K at Sherando High School in Stephens City. The weather was cold and windy in the low 30’s at race start time.

I run in the park on a weekly basis, so I had a bit of home field advantage. I paced myself off of some runners I know are usually faster than me. Since I am strong on hills, I used those opportunities to chew up some ground.

On the final turn I was right behind another runner and let him know I was coming up behind him with a friendly “Let’s go!”. We both sprinted to the finish and he able to keep me from passing. We finished at 18:40 and 18:41. PR’s for us both. Thanks to Karsten Brown for the photos.

That is the kind of comradery/competition that makes running these races fun.
