I’m rapidly approaching the big 4-0. I no longer have the rapid healing powers I did as a youngster. My life is a continuous cycle of sore muscles. But I have found a product that actually works to help reduce pain and inflammation. REgel does as advertised – RElieve, REpair and REcover.
REgel Instructions for Use
The folks at REgel stumbled upon my blog and sent me an email asking if I would like to try their product. I like free stuff, so of course I said yes. Once a 2 ounce jar showed up ($19.95 value), I had my pharmacist wife look at the ingredients and evaluate if it was safe.
All natural good stuff. Here are the key ingredients that make REgel work:
— A strong anti-inflammatory and vasodilator, it’s one of the most well-known herbs for athletes. Helps inhibit production of NF-kb, which signals the inflammatory response, and contains flavonoids, tannins, and thymol to stimulate blood circulation.Chamomile
— Chamomile has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antispasmodic elements. Has an anti-inflammatory effect when applied to the skin and acts as a mold antimicrobial which helps the body resist pathogenic organisms. Chamomile has an antispasmodic quality works on relaxing the peripheral nerves and muscles. When they are relaxed the body enters in a natural state to recover.Star Anise
— Acts as an antibacterial, antimicrobial and anti-oxidant. Star Anise contains shikmic acid which is the main precursor to the anti-influenza drug Tamiflu.
Lemongrass — Antiseptic, antibacterial, fungicide, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, improves blood circulation and is a natural insecticide (citronella to keep mosquitoes, fleas, & ticks away).
Turmeric — Has powerful protective qualities such as anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, analgesic, and astringent. Turmeric naturally inhibits COX-2. This is beneficial because COX-2 make carcinogens more active.
I think you could spread this stuff on a cracker and eat it, though I do not suggest trying it.
I have used the gel on my sore muscles and it has sped up my recovery time. I also have used it on bug bites and itchy skin. It eases the itch very quickly. My kids love it for their itches as well. It helps reduce bruising as well. When Connor got kicked in the face at school (8 year olds find a way to do this quite frequently), I applied a small amount on the bruised area periodically and it never turned into a full-on shiner.
I just placed an order for two more jars since I know my muscles will be put to the test while training for Boston.
